First of all I have to cancel my holiday for an appointment to be told that my CT scan showed a fullness and thickening of my pancreas. It was less likely to be a tumour, but the consultant couldn't confirm that 100% until an endoscopy and biopsy had been performed. I was referred to the Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham. After hearing nothing for 3 weeks I chased this referral only to find out that the surgeon at the QE had cancelled as they couldn't see any reason for it! After another week or two and numerous phone calls it transpired that the consultant here had made an error of judgement, and what they thought was a problem, was in fact the fluid they had injected for the scan to be performed! No apology was offered in the letter, just that my pancreas was fine! All the worry on the part of me, my family and friends was over a 'trick of the scan!' Then I was referred by my doctor to Rheumatology to check for auto immune disorders,. Two weeks later I ring the Rheumatology Department Appointments, only for the phone to just ring out on numerous attempts! When I finally did get to speak to somebody i find that although the referral letter was sent a week ago, they have no record of receiving it and I'm not on their waiting list! It would appear that our NHS and this hospital in particular is a farce! Meanwhile my body is throwing up more and more problems at me that indicate an auto immune disorder and I'm no closer to sorting it out than I was in February. It's now June!
