"Respect and invovement in decicisions"

About: Goring Hall Hospital

I have been a regular visitor to my partner who has been so illl he wouldn't know why what the overall plan was when it was given..The doctors are being very thorough. Most of the nurses efficient.I understand that he doesn't appear to try eg eat or move.I have said very little a until the rearrangement of the ward they couldn't have been more helpful. The last two days his drinks have not been brought. The dirty things have been left on the table. He has been wired up at night and as he is recovering from diahorrea as been given a plastic nappy in case he soils a little while waiting for help to get up to manage himself..Yesterday he buzzed and not seeing me there refused . I heard him being laughed at for wearing it.He genuinely believed he wasn't allowed to ask.I told the outgoing nurse to explain to him.Its one plug to be taken out and he must buzz. The nurse will speak to the night staff. It is a humiliating situation and the respect varies from excellent to bad.He does not understand at the moment what he is being told.He has been there isolated for a long time. What a difference in the attitude of staff.

Thank you for posting your feedback which I have passed onto the Executive Director of the hospital. As you have posted anonymously, we cannot respond to you privately, but she has asked me to inform you that she has read your feedback and is upset and concerned about your complaint of the variation in staff attitudes, which she is now investigating. It would be very helpful if you could write or contact the hospital to lodge a formal complaint, if you have not already done so.
