"Yet Another Dreadful Kids A&E & Experience & More...."

About: Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital

Thanks to the Wonderfully dismissive attitude of some Doctors at this children's hospital A&E, our daughter was left in tears, in severe pain & refusing to ever go there again. Sadly this isn't the first bad experience she has had there & last time round as a follow up on ward 9 where she was belittled & disbelieved about the level of pain she was in. Very personal stuff spoken about over her head as if she wasn't there & proper treatment diagnosis & treatment denied without a fight, I was even threatened with social services because I refused to let the main doctor gave her drugs that she has reacted badly too before, & also gave her medicines containing additives that she reacts badly too. Both of which should be in her notes. Yet I still had the same problem daily - it was exhausting & made a very stressful situation far worse. Despite having a diagnosed medical condition meaning she is at risk of more serious injury from a minor incident. This time round on 14/4/15 we were sent away from A&E with minor sprain advice, they clearly had no understanding of her medical condition, nor how kids who live with chronic pain do not respond normally to pain. That's fine, but neither did they listen to us even though we know her & the condition well & they didn't check either, preferring to treat as if she was making a fuss about nothing & sending her home, writing in her notes that she "limped in" no she did not, she was in severe pain, could not walk & had to be supported even on her crutches. We had to bring her back a week later, it would have been sooner, but she was so distressed at going back that we didn't want to make her anxiety worse & hoped the pain really would settle with rest. It didn't & once again we were sent away with no diagnosis or clear treatment plan. It was very clear by the ridiculous number of times that we were asked if she had any siblings & was she an only child, or pretty much told to shut up so they could speak to our daughter - who had already made it clear that she didn't want to speak to doctors she felt disbelieved her - they clearly did not believe her pain levels, nor did they believe us either. Tried to send us off yet again telling us to give her Calpol - 1. She is 12, 2, I gad already told them & its in her notes - Calpol makes her very ill! I had to insist on seeing the Doctor in charge & really had to argue hard to even get a follow up at all - this wonderful caring doctor refused a fracture clinic follow up, telling me that wasn't procedure as there was no fracture - we unfortunately know the procedure too well & this was not true. Told me they don't diagnose in A&E - so they don't diagnose & they don't make follow up referrals without a parent who is already distressed enough dealing with a 12 year old in severe pain & no one is listening or helping having to fight for her kid ??. So much more to write - missing notes & at T&O follow ups & more & our daughter is still in severe pain & cannot walk
