"Threatening letter after parking"

About: Warrington Hospital

(as the patient),

I went to the hospital and paid the inflated car parking fee that covered me for 24hrs. Nearly two weeks later through my door came a threatening letter. It said that they had no record of me purchasing a ticket.

Firstly I do not appriciate a threatening letter coming to my home. Secondly I do not appreciate that they are saying I am a cheat. Thirdly it highlights a flaw in their system. Fourthly a minimum change of forty pounds is outrageous. Fifthly why should I have to prove I paid when it is their mistake?

I am able to raise my concerns and have already lodged an appeal. What about the elderly or the infirm, the sick, the person who is ill?

Shame on Warrington hospital for allowing a company to harass people in their own homes. The so called evidence is a picture of me entering the hospital and leaving, it does not show my windscreen when I was parked that had the ticket prominently displayed. I challenge the hospital to prove that this system of what amounts to a tax on the sick and their relatives helps car parking congestion. Shame on the chief exec and the board of governors.

The hospital is providing a service to the sick who have paid through taxes, then they are taxing the sick again. Shame on you for taking this decision. I don't know anyone who goes to the hospital and parks there for a day out. It is usually to visit the sick or have treatment.

All this you can buy tickets that will work out for a pound a day is again shameful. When people are ill the last thing on their mind is standing in a queue to get a ticket to park. Who owns the land? Is it the people anyway. This is the first impression that the people have about the care that they will receive, not a good impression of a caring compassionate hospital.

Please don't reply that it is now usual to pay at hospitals, stand up and say well we don't charge because we care for our patients.

Thank you for your feedback. We have charged for car parking for the last 11 years at the hospital but the new camera system has been introduced recently to help us manage the car parks better. if you have a valid ticket then the appeal will ensure that you are not subject to a parking charge notice. The money that is raised through the tickets pays for the costs we incur in terms of security and car parking at the hospitals with any remainder going to main patient care budget.
