"NHS at its best"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

I have just collected my dad from ward 202 after an emergency admission a week ago. I feel compelled to feedback our experience. Too often we are quick to criticise but not to say thank you...from emergency admission, 24 hours in ICU then onto ward 202 then isolation I cannot praise the hospital staff enough. My dad has received attentive, dignified nothing short of exemplary treatment in all the departments. Staff have been empathic and informative with me and my mum who were understandably worried and accommodated us with reassurance and attention when visiting. My dad has been discharged today with follow up appointments with consultants and I have no reason to doubt his amazing care will continue. I realise that the NHS is facing cuts to services and staff but this was not reflected in staff moral or the service and care my dad received. I am sure this is due to the professionalism of those involved. I felt nothing but genuity in staff wanting to help and make my dad better which they succeeded in doing ....for this and the care and compassion shown to me and my mum I am extremely grateful. I would ask that this feedback be shared with these departments involved so that they may know what a difference they make. Thank you

Dear Mrs Clark, many thanks for your kind comments regarding our Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and Ward 202. Our staff strive to provide a high standard of care to all our patients and it is always nice to receive positive feedback to reassure the staff that their efforts have not been in vain. I will certainly ensure that your comments are shared with the relevant staff as we are sure they also will be most appreciative. Many thanks, once again, for taking the time to provide us with this important information and may we take this opportunity to wish your father and your family our very best wishes for the future. Kind regards The Patient Experience Team for Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
