"An overall great service"

About: Birmingham Dental Hospital

Overall very happy with the dental hospital for emergency treatment So, to start off, if like any hospital you are going and expecting an instant service, you will be disappointed To get an appointment you must be there at half 7 to get an appontment ticket (my advice, be willing to be there at half 6 at the latest as appointments are limited) and be flexable. You could get an am or pm ticket slot on a first come first serve basis All the staff are friendly, very informative and treat you with respect I went in with a painful tooth knowing i needed an extraction, with an afternoon slot, i expected a wait, had an assesment and xray and had to come back the next day for extraction. Coming back for the extraction, i was in and out within 40 minutes. A relatively stress free experience (i have a dentist phobia, all the staff made me feel comfortable) My overall advice, be patient, dont expect instant service. But when you do get seen you will be treated well and get the treatment you need All the staff are a credit to the NHS and at no point did i feel mistreated.

Dear Mattias Thank you for your helpful feedback about your experience, and I am sorry for the delay in responding to you. I do hope you are recovering well from your extraction. It is good to read that your visit was relatively stress-free in light of your comments about a dental phobia. The clinical team work hard to make their patients feel as comfortable as possible throughout their visit, and recognise that the current ticket allocation system leads to long waits for some patients which can add to any anxiety. We are currently working with service commissioners to look at how the ticket based system can be changed and improved to reduce the long wait some patients inevitably experience.
