My Mother-in-law was admitted to Queens via an ambulance to A&E on 25th March and died in ITU on 2nd April. My wife works in Broomfield Hospital and I work at Southend Hospital so we have a lot of experience of hospital services. My wife and I can emphatically state that her care during her time in Queens was of the highest standard and the staff who looked after her in A&E, Amber A Ward and the ITU were both professional and very caring. At no stage was it suggested that an 85 year old lady with a broken femur, advanced lung cancer, heart disease and failing kidneys was not deserving of the finest treatment and care. All staff spoke to her by name, showed her great empathy and made sure that she was given whatever treatment or medication necessary. I am unable to remember all of the staff names but there are some of them who we can recall and were very kind and gave excellent care and consideration to her and us as the family: Finally, I would like to state that I would be more than happy to recommend Queens to anyone and would hope that Southend and Broomfield are able to offer the same high level of care.
"Excellent palliative care"
