"Ysbystygwnedd - Bangor - The Hebog Surgical Ward"

About: Ysbyty Gwynedd (non Psychiatric)

(as the patient),

Dad has lung cancer and a brain tumour. He was on the ward for 1 week and the care I thought he received was poor. If he ever pressed the bell for help, it would be 15 minutes for someone to come. The worst was the other month 25th Feb, where he was waiting to be transferred to Walton Hospital in Liverpool, and he had to wait for an ambulance for 6 hours. It didn't come till later in the afternoon, we waited with him, but as you can imagine he was very upset.

I also queried why he was placed in the wrong ward, and not a cancer ward? He was an emergency admission due to being rushed in by 999 all and was fitting due to his brain tumour. He was very distressed.

He was paralysed down his left side and couldn't hold his urine. So he needed help with this every 15mins. He should have been treated better, he was very upset. Other instances included him falling twice unsupervised. I was really concerned for his health and well-being. He was just left sometimes in his chair just fitting all day. I didn't feel the hospital he attended in Wales was very good, and I just want to fight his corner really.

He has since been transferred to Walton Hospital, and is now having wonderful care - having had a brain tumour.
