"Wonderful Staff"

I cannot thank the NHS enough for the care my 10 year old son received when he was admitted to Lion Ward for an emergency operation on 14 May. Everyone from our GP, the staff in Paediatric A&E, Urology doctors, anaesthetists and all the nurses on Lion Ward were just amazing. A special thank you to the student nurse on Lion Ward who looked after my son so well. I was so impressed with the way everyone spoke directly to my son in a very child friendly way, asking him questions and explaining to him exactly what they were doing and why and even making him laugh. Everything was explained to me very clearly and in a very friendly way. It was apparent to me that the staff were acting in a speedy manner and my son was in surgery quickly, but they were so professional and caring my son had no idea of the urgency. Despite being in pain my son remained so calm the whole time, he was not frightened about being in hospital and this was definitely because of the way he was treated. The staff were also great with me, putting my mind at rest and keeping me informed on what was happening, they were just wonderful. The hospital was very clean. We were seen very quickly after arriving in A&E. Lion Ward looks wonderful, lovely paintings on the walls, a fish tank and great facilities for children.
