"On the vascular ward (Luke) the ..."

About: St Thomas' Hospital (London)

(as the patient),

What I liked

On the vascular ward (Luke) the atmosphere was cheery and friendly and warm. The nurses all got on well together and made an effort to get to know us as people. Always smiling and keen to help. Always fresh iced water at the bed side.

What could be improved

The food. Bland. But good puddings.

No skimmed milk option was very surprising if on low fat diet.

The bathrooms had no place to put your clothes or belongings except on the floor. No indication if/when they had been cleaned last - a nurse said that should be on the back of the door but it wasn't. No air refreshner in loo.

The air conditioning was off, it was stifling for the older ladies. There seemed to be a problem.

Anything else?

A fantastic vascular team, both doctors and nurses showed great care and were so friendly. The surgeon answered all questions and did his rounds on time. Special thanks to the team who kept my spirits up, even when one patient was quite rude to them.

It is good to hear that your clinical care was of a high standard and apologise if other things let us down. Your comment about places to put belongings is interesting and we will see what we can do to improve that situation.
