"Maternity Assessment Unit"

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital

Following an unwell episode I attended the Maternity Assessment Unit via the Emergency Department at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I have received by the NHS. The Emergency Department dealt with me promptly, recognised my symptoms, and referred me on. When I was received by the Maternity Assessment Unit, I was greeted by a Midwife who introduced themself and took me straight through to be monitored. Throughout my time on the Assessment Unit the Midwife put me at ease always explaining and reassuring me of everything they were doing. I felt in control of the situation and fully aware of what was happening. Often in the press this type of experience is not portrayed and I want to thank the Trust for my positive experience.

Thank you for your comments regarding your visit to the Maternity Unit. We are pleased that the midwife was able to put you at ease and gave you the information that you required to enable you to understand and be in control of the situation. It is always worrying when you are pregnant and unwell but we are delighted that our staff made your visit as easy as possible.
