I am currently 33weeks +5, and so far have had hardly any contact with my midwife (twice) and when my discharge changed, which is classed as not normal and your told to see a midwife, I went to the Maternity Assessment Unit... With my two year old at 6: 10pm, people before me were seen, then people after me were seen, I didn't worry too much as I presumed it was because they needed care more urgent than I did, then after an hour and 50 mins in the waiting room I was called through... For Triage! ! ! ! !
After being in there for two mins I was then told I would be waiting about an hour to be seen, I told her that was ok as I'd already been there for more than an hour at which point she pointed out she meant a further hour! ! By the time I was taken onto the ward, I felt relief that I would finally be checked and sent on my way, I was put on the monitor told to hold the buzzer in one hand and press the monitor onto my belly with the other, whilst lay on my side (a complete stress position! ) and wait until the machine stops and she will be back, 10 mins later and the machine had stopped and still no sign of the midwife, 20 mins later and she finally came back, I'd have not let it bother me if she had been tending to other patients but there sounded like 4 or 5 women chatting and giggling in the corner of the room, only to then discuss with a male doctor about a woman who was clearly in labour across from me and being sick, saying they would keep here there for observations for another hour! ! ! When I was finally disconnected from the monitor, I was moved to another area so they could make use of the machine for someone else, instead of them moving the machine. Then I waited a further hour or so for the doctor to come and have a look at me, which took less than 5 mins and I was discharged! ! I left the hospital close to 11 o'clock, with my two year old! ! ! ! ! They really don't seem to care much about their level of care and using people of greater need as a diversion tactic so they can have a brew and a bit of banter! !
At my 20 week scan I was noted as having a low lying placenta and would need a further scan at 34 weeks, at the beginning of last week (32wks) I still had not received an appointment in the mail and phoned them, I was apologiesed to by the woman who said it was on my notes but it had been overlooked and someone would call me back to book the appointment once she has called the dept.
I waited two days and no phone call, called back and was informed that my appointment was not raised by the dept and was to be actioned and I will get a phone call later that day, if not, I was to call back the following day, this took us to Thursday and with it being the bank holiday I left it for the weekend, I called today (following Wednesday) and was informed that I am now on the waiting list for an appointment as it is dealt with by priority.
I understand some people are a bigger priority at the time but my appointment should have been actioned and booked at any point over the last 13weeks. I feel like at every point I required medical care so far it is lacking actual care. Medical professionals should know best that no two pregnancies are the same.
I received top notch care for my first child in The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton and there were no concerns, complications or bad care, so far whilst in Liverpool I feel abandoned and like I am a burden, they only seem to do what they have to do when they finally have to do it and that's not acceptable in my book.
Each time I have left a medical maternity appointment or treatment in Liverpool, (all of 3-4 times) I have gone home tired, stressed and emotional to the point of tears, it's not right.
