What could be improved

My father in law is currently in Maday Hospital recovering from a collapsed lung following a biopsy. Whilst i appreciate that things can get very busy and you have to prioritise who you see and when, on more than one ocassion my father inlaw was told by the doctor that he would be back in 5 minutes and he was not seen again for the rest of the day. He also happens to be diabetic and his insulin needs to be kept in a refrigerator, something that you would expect a nurse to be aware of. The nursing staff didn't appear to have an understanding of a diabetics requirements. He needs to inject 30 mins before he eats but on his 2nd night in hospital the staff were unable to find his insulin. This required a visit from his family to bring in another supply only to find that by the time we got to the hospital they had managed to find it.

Anything else?

Car parking on site is expensive, i realise that you have limited parking facilities and don't want to encourage people staying for extended periods but the brief visits that we i have made over the past few days have cost in excess of £10 not to mention other family members. The costs of phone calls is excessive also, even when calling into the hospital you have to spend the first minute (40ppm) listening to a recorded message. Finally and most importantly, the television. When soemone has to spend an extended period in hospital and immobile, one of the few things that can help pass the time of day is to watch tv. I find it absolutely staggering that a patient should have to pay to watch terrestrial tv, £3.50 a day. This is nothing more than profitering, i would welcome someone explaining to me why there should be a charge for this service.
