"Uncaring scleral lens clinic"

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus)

I had been a patient at Moorfields since 2012 and generally happy with the Contact Lens clinic (and genera eye clinic). Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the scleral lens clinic. After struggling with my new lenses, I had made some notes to show the consultant at my next visit. I started to hand it over and was snapped at curtly "well what's on it?". I felt so demeaned I ended up only saying half of what I intended. At the next visit, when trying a newer scleral lens, the (same) consultant got exasperated when I struggled to fit the lens and spoke to me as if I was a child. In the end a much more friendlier lady spent time with me and I managed to get the lens in. I have had enough of being treated like a lab rat rather than a person with feelings so asked my GP to refer me elsewhere.

I'm sorry to hear about this. It certainly doesn't sound like the kind of behaviour we expect from our staff and is something we are working hard to improve. I will pass your comments on to the contact lens team so that they can make improvements for other patients in future.
