"Still frustrated with X-ray charges at Addenbroke's"

About: Addenbrooke's Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

How nice to be given an "anonymous" label, in contrast to my previous post which was a bit of dismay. I doubt whether I can sustain this moan anonymously in Cambridge as a Kiwi. Oh dear, never mind - as we say.

The point is that I don't think the NHS is what it claims to be. Sorry about that. Why don't you accept it and get some decent management in to sort it out? The charge for an Xray in NZ would have been around the equivalent of 9 british pounds at the "private" clinic where I go (get the films and toddle back to the specialist for an opinion on the spot) or "free" at the local hospital with a wait. Thirty pounds paid to The State is exorbitant.

I do acknowledge that I got the Xray (street clothes - street bugs?) with only a short wait and some risk from a toy infested area, but I suspect that my previous "moan" on this site made a difference. Who knows!!

Thanks for your story. Your experience sounds frustrating. It’s hard feeling that you are being charged when you shouldn’t be, isn’t it? However, it’s great that you seem to find Patient Opinion is helping to improve your experience of the NHS. Please continue to tell us about your experiences in future.
