Most distressing experience. Junior doctor came round soon after my operation and told me when they looked inside me they saw lots of microfractures in my hip. Then when I questioned this and said I think you mean fracturing is what the procedure is called. The next day the registrar came round and when I asked about the microfracturing they told me that wasn't a suitable procedure for me and why. I explained that's exactly what the surgeon had done. The look on their face said it all. On discharge was not given enough medication to get me through Sunday. I was discharged on Saturday and it's a bank holiday weekend!! After arguing for two hours eventually got 6 more tablets. The Sister didn't come over and discuss the situation and left it to one of the nurses who was brilliant and caught in the middle. The sister discussed it with my partner using such a loud voice that I could hear it and the rest of the ward. Patient respect and confidently!! It was like something you read in the papers and hope it doesn't happen to you. The care assistants and nurses were fab. The housekeeping refused to close a window by my bed as it wasn't there job or clean up spilt water. The person bringing lunches round gave me something I hadn't ordered and refused to change it so I would have no lunch until I spoke up. Someone elderly or infirm would have gone hungry. The physio didn't write my exercises down or show me how to go up or downstairs. I am non weight bearing for 4 weeks. I had to suggest exercises since I had a similar operation before. Shocking.
