"Thank You to staff on Delivery Suite and Maternity..."

About: Royal Preston Hospital

This was the second time I have attended Delivery Suite. The first was in 2012 when I had my first son. I was induced early and had a normal delivery with epidural and the care was excellent. This time I went into labour naturally and was due to attend Preston Birthing Centre but due to complications I needed closer monitoring so was admitted to the Delivery Suite. I was treated by two amazing midwives who were very supportive and caring. My labour was fast and as there were concerns a doctor and paediatrician were on stand by for myself and my son at the point of delivery. This was also the case for my first birth but fortunately they were not needed as we were both fit and well but we were so grateful of the back up team being there if necessary. I was treated with dignity and respect and made to feel as comfortable as possible, I could not have asked for more and I was so grateful for the care and that the birth went well - Thank you. I was moved to Maternity B so my son and I could be monitored but after all the necessary checks we were able to leave later that day which is what I requested as I wanted to go home as soon as was possible. This was a very positive experience and I would recommend the Maternity Unit to others.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us of your experience. It was extremely pleasing to hear that, whilst you were not able to give birth to your baby in the Birthing Centre, you did, nevertheless have such a positive experience. We have shared your kind comments with staff in the Maternity Unit.
