"Resperatory medicine"

Another admission to the dreaded 4 South. It all started in A&E with a COPD exacerbation. I stated that I was in CXH under duress, due to the appalling treatment I experienced in the past.. I spent the night on CDU then a day on 5 West. I was told that I would be going to 4 south, then all the problems started. I feared that I would be treated less than a human being and immediately made my fears known to the doctors. This then involved a psych evaluation, and notes were taken. (I prefer to be dead than on 4 South). At least I got the desired result and was treated properly by the doctors. The resp nurse who knows me took good care of me and, arranged for all the follow up and other tests to be performed, so no fault there. The catering staff were a mixed lot. The food was not really up to standard in that it was either overcooked and on one occasion, not cooked properly.. On several occasions, a drink after meals was not offered. The ward toilet on one occasion was a health hazard and not cleaned for a whole day, and the toilet bowl was nothing less than pebble dashed. Some of the HCA's thought making a cup of tea for a patient was beneath them, while others thought a commode should be to transport patients to the loo.. There is no fault with the staff nurses or ward sisters. Upon discharge today 21/5/15 I was put into a one man ambulance when it should have been a two man job, so had to be taken back to the ward to await the proper transport. In all, a distressing eight days in a hospital and ward that I no longer trust.
