"My Operation"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

I had a lump removed from my chest on the 20.5.15 and was in ward 15 - I can only describe my stay as brilliant! The staff (all) are extremely professional, caring, very helpful people. The ward and the hospital in general was spotless (I was only in the ward from 7.00am to 4pm and the floors were cleaned fully twice and surfaces including high fittings were all dusted and wiped). Everyone from the cleaners to the surgeons were extremely friendly and genuinelly cared. I am a Diabetic and had not eaten since 6 a.m so after my op at 1.20 p.m I was starting to feel a bit wobbly. Within seconds of returning to the ward one of the nurses was there asking me if I wanted a sandwich and a cup of tea both of which were really good. The op was carried out under local anesthetic and I was a bit apprehensive but I shouldnt have been, every step was explained and despite being a really big guy I was always treat with the greatest respect never like my obesity was my own fault. Thank you, you should all be proud of yourselves because despite the long hours and Governments that don't appear to understand or care about the hard work you do, you continue to deliver outstanding patient care. I will never worry about going into Hospital again if I am going to Dewsbury! a massive pat on the back to everyone!
