"Visited A&E as advised by 111"

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (King's Lynn)

Sunday 17th May evening I visited the A&E dept as advised by 111. Firstly welcomed by a receptionist who was perfectly helpful, took my papers and sat down and waited to be seen by triage. At this point it went down hill. I was called in by a member of staff (who I'm guessing was a volunteer) rather scruffy and seemed to have no interest what so ever about his job or life in general. After being asked 'what's wrong,' I explained my symptoms to which their reply was 'is that it?' I was made to feel worthless and like I was wasting there time. After a fairly long wait (as expected) a doctor/nurse greeted me and was very kind, restoring some faith.

Thank you for your comments on your experience of attending the Emergency Department. I am glad that your interaction with the clinical team in the department was good but I am sorry that these positive experiences were spoilt by the poor impression generated by the person that greeted you. I have passed these comments to the Emergency Department and requested that they follow them up with the individual concerned.
