"Surgical Day Ward...Ward 20"

The treatment and care that I received on this ward was 2nd to none. I was immediately spoken to by a member of the domestic staff on entering the ward. I was feeling a little anxious about my pending surgery but this reassured me and my nerves soon disappeared. The ward clerk showed me to my bed and explained a member of nursing staff would be with me soon after to explain things to me. I was greeted by a lovely staff nurse along with a 1st year student nurse. My anaesthetist and consultant answered any questions I had soon after. The student nurse walked me to the anaesthetic room, chatting along the way and taking my mind off my surgery. I awoke in the recovery area with lots of staff looking after post surgery patients. All staff were very busy and attentive. The student nurse came to the recovery area and took my back onto the ward. They were extremely caring, completely understood my needs and was very professional. They will make a fabulous nurse. I can confidently say my whole experience was a very positive one and cannot praise the staff highly enough. Everything went to plan and was extremely well organised. Thank you.
