Surgical Assessment- on going to A&E in the early hours of Sunday morning I was seen by the A&E nurse who assessed that I would need to be seen by the Surgical team. With this in mind I was sent to Surgical Assessment ward where the staff made me very welcome. I was then seen about 8.00 am by the doctor and their team. The assessment was that an abscess had formed and that it required to be drained, they ran through the procedure of what the operation entailed and this would happen later in the afternoon. However the doctor returned a short time later and asked that I get ready for surgery, I was then seen by the anaesthetist who asked a few questions and made me aware of their side of the procedure.. I had the operation about 10.30 and was in recovery awake at 11.45. The staff in recovery were obviously attentive and helpful, after a couple of hours in recovery I was placed in the Discharge Unit and was collected by my Son about 17.00. I would like to thank all the staff in all departments for their care and support in my stay and the prompt actions of the doctor and their team for the excellent service provided by them. Thank you all very much
