What I liked

I thought the consultants were excellent and very thorough, they reassured me. When my son was born he had jaundice and was kept in hospital for several days after his birth. The pediatrician was incredible with my son as well as me (the worrying, crying mother). I found the midwives to be helpful although somewhat gruff. The midwife who stayed with me throughout my labour was fantastic and encouraging, my delivery team was also wonderful, and very patient with me.

What could be improved

Although this is no longer relevant as I was in the old building, I found the facilities to be very dated and "dirty." I wasn't impressed. I also had problems with my booking-in appointment and had to chase a lot of people to get it done, which was very frustrating. Sometimes I'd wait 5 minutes sometimes I'd wait two hours to see my consultant, it was inconsistent and annoying to say the least. Once my son was born we paid for a private recovery room, but my husband was NOT allowed to stay overnight, it was rough on him and me.

Anything else?

Always book your appointments for the morning and preferably the first appointment for that day. Get there on time or when they call your name they'll skip you and you'll wait. Take dark towels when you go to give birth.
