"Mental health 'care' for adults in Lancaster"

About: Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health

(as the patient),

Mental health treatment in Lancaster is appalling. Moving between levels on the so called 'stepped care Mental Health' is awful. There is a lack of communication between the different agencies and professionals. The different levels do not share computer system, consultants, offices - therefore information is not passed on effectively. When you do see a professional they don't listen to you and actually take notice of what you are saying. Ridge Lea is a disgrace - meeting rooms are like prison cells and the waiting area is so depressing. Waiting times, even when in crisis, are long. It feels as though the two options you have are to kill yourself or to do your own recovery with no support. Truly shocking. No wonder over 100 men kill themselves every week in England when mental health services are so bad. If cancer were treated like this there would be a national outcry - but because it is mental health it is seen as very low priority.

The receptionists always try their best.
