During a weekend away in Windermere I began experiencing severe abdominal pain. I am 34 weeks pregnant and when I called my maternity unti in Shefffield for advice they referred me to the maternity unit at Lancaster. From the first panicked phone call to my discharge every member of staff my husband and I encountered were 100% professional. We were both incredibly well looked after, were kept informed of every decision and query and felt listened to and included in the care. Thankfully the baby and I were fine but it was a worrying time and the midwives and doctors we met during our overnight stay were calm and reassuring every step of the way, again, we were very well looked after. My husband and I cannot praise the staff here enough. My care was exemplary from start to finish, practically, physically and emotionally. As a ward sister in an NHS trust I can appreciate the practical difficulties of caring for a patient without notes or documented medical history and I can fully appreciate the outstanding care I received. Thank you all.
"Excellent standards of care"
