"Non caring staff"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

Walking around the hospital I noticed signs that instruct vistiors and patients to respect Nursing staff. Shame that doesn't work both ways. The staff on the ward I was on were uncaring, always too busy (chatting mainly) and just plain rude. The NHS need to seriously take another look at the current way they recruit nurses, the old system worked fine and produced the highest quality of nurses in the world, the system now requires them to pay to train for 3 years plus. The reason for so many foreign staff is because they are cheaper but the downside of that is lack of training and skills. Paperwork is also one the main culprits, in this day and age of computerised systems why are the NHS using both! All you hear is targets targets targets, forget the targets and concentrate on the patients.

Dear Mr Baddeley,

I am so sorry to hear of your recent experiences at the William Harvey Hospital. Please accept my apologies for this poor behaviour, it is certainly not the standard we would expect. If you wish me to take this forward please email the ward name and I will ask the Ward Sister or Matron to look into your concerns. My email address is sally.smith2@nhs.net.
