"On admission I had to ask for ..."

About: Chase Farm Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

On admission I had to ask for dried blood to be cleaned off the bed before I got on it. I was left alone to labour as my husband was sent home 'due to visiting hours being over'. The midwives ignored me while they sat at their desk chatting. The roof collapsed in the antenatal ward. The food was inedible. I was discharged by a student 24 hrs after an emergency caesarean and subsequently readmitted with a wound infection as I hadn't been properly checked. The midwives had no knowlege of proper wound care. Overall it was an incredibly traumatic experience.

Anything else?

I am glad that the maternity unit is closing as the standards were apalling. There were a handful of excellent midwives and I don't know how they can work under such poor conditions.
