"Feedback after abdominal hysterectomy"

About: Oaks Hospital

I cannot thank the consultant enough for their superb care and professionalism, as to the nurses and in particular one who looked after me. However there are a few issues that weren't so good. The reception staff seemed very cold and unfriendly when I returned for physio and post op check appointments. Being a receptionist myself I know the importance of being warm and friendly and putting patients at ease. Never once did I even get a smile. This made me feel quite intimidated and not welcome. Is it because I was nhs? After my first night after my hysterectomy the physio was shocked that no one had changed my bed sheet, it was wet and bloodstained. Then when staff stripped the bed the duvet was placed under the small table resting on my suitcase, part of which touched the floor. A little while later when the floors were mopped the mop touched the duvet. I was horrified as dirty mop on duvet cover could easily give me an infection. I did tell the nurse who gave me a fresh cover but still the same duvet. One last thing a couple of the tea trolley staff could be heard taking the Mickey out of a patient, this is the last thing patients need when trying to recover and very upsetting.
