"Cardiac ablation procedure"

About: Glenfield Hospital

I was admitted on Monday 13th of April 2015. Whilst in theatre I had a vasovagal attack at the end of my procedure. The staff including the consultant were excellent, very caring, informative, and professional. It was only when I was returned to the ward that things didn't seem to be quite right. I was sent back to the ward I was admitted on, (when I was told It would be either ward 34 or CCU, and that I would be kept in over night) .The staff on ward 32 did not expect me back so I was put in a side room, ( which was a clinic room),my allocated nurse I saw that morning was surprised to see me back.I was given lunch and someone checked my wounds. I was then left 2 hours without any blood pressure check or monitoring . Then a nurse came in to my room and told me to get dressed and I could go home. By then I had started to feel unwell again. I told the nurse and they told me get dressed when you feel ready. Ignoring what I had just told them, they left my room and closed the door behind them . So I pulled the nurse call as I really did feel unwell, (if I had got off the bed I think I would of passed out !). So an assistant came in and I told them that I didn't feel too good, and they got me a tray as I felt really sick. Then a nurse entered the room with a bp monitor they took my bp and it had dropped to 82 . So my bed back was lowered and I was left for nearly 2 hours with no further checks. Then the nurse returned, gave me a discharge letter, and discharged me.

Dear Diane, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. We are pleased to hear that your procedure at Glenfield went well but very sorry that the staff on the ward after your procedure were uncaring towards you and did not listen to you when you told them you weren’t feeling well. This does not reflect the level of care we expect our patients to receive, and we would like to investigate your concerns further so we can improve our service for future patients. If you are happy for us to do so, please send me your details (name, address, date of birth and hospital number) by email to benjamin.hyde@uhl-tr.nhs.uk or by calling 07908 235983. Kind regards, Ben Hyde Matron, Ward 32 Glenfield Hospital
