Extremely unhappy with the poor attention and advice we were given, at the Minor Injuries unit. I took my 70 year old partner there as she had torn her tendon a few days before at her home abroad. She was visiting me for my 80th birthday, so her own orthopaedic doctor said rather than ruin your plans, go to England, as the doctors there are very good, and you will get excellent treatment.
She was examined by a male nurse in Solihull MIU, and he said he thought it was a strain. We told him what my partners own doctor had said and he replied "well you will need a U/Sound scan and that will take six weeks. " But she is in pain and taking Tramadol I said, she cant wait that long. OK I will discuss it with a senior colleague and maybe he will see you.
Five minutes later he came back and said his colleague confirmed that nothing further can be done to speed anything up. No suggestion of seeing a qualified doctor, only that it would be quicker if we went to see a doctor privately. We phoned to find out how much that would cost and it was over £550 for a scan with a consultation. This would only tell us what we already knew, but she would still need treatment! So I paid £50 for a private physiotherapist to examine her and with his letter confirming everything we had already told the MIU nurse, we are now getting some attention but it is still exceedingly slow.
