"Lack of Information for Relatives"

About: Epsom Hospital

Having contacted the hospital for information about my 91 year old aunt's condition - I am her next of kin but live nearly 200 miles away - I was fairly unimpressed with the lack of information whoever answered the phone was able to give me. They sounded decidedly disinterested, had minimum information and getting it was like getting blood out of a stone. The first person I spoke to this morning was much more helpful and informed me that the doctor had not yet done their rounds so it would be better to phone back later, which I did. I am left without even knowing why she was admitted but knowing she will not be going home today. Do I have to make a 400 mile round trip just to get information?

We’re concerned to hear that you have struggled to establish communications about your aunt’s care. Please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Services (PALS) team on 01372 735243 or via email at pals@esth.nhs.uk who will be able to look into this.
