"And then . . ."

About: Stepping Hill Hospital

Following my previous complaints I would like to add the final issues prior to Mum's discharge, as being medically fit, from A10. On the day before her discharge, Mum had evidently got out of her chair and made her way to the bed diagonally opposite where she fell. Staff were asked several times, by myself and my sisters, how she had fallen. Answers ranged from 'don't know' to total avoidance of response and change of subject. The care home where we had arranged to go the next day, had to be informed about the fall. They asked if a urine test had been done, in case she had a urine infection related to the fall. The nurse said they didn't know, but even if she had a urine infection she would still be going home tomorrow! The bedridden patient who buzzed to let the nurses know mum had fallen, later (while I was there) asked the nurse on the ward for a bedpan. Old age and being bedridden makes this a reasonable request. She was told she would have to wait until after hand over.
