My husband was seen by the staff in A and E and at first I was etremely impressed as he was dealt with immediately due to chest pain and difficulty breathing. After various tests we were told it was an infection and to leave the cubicle and take a seat in the hub within the department whilst we waited for medication. After 20 mins the doctor took us in a room to let us know that the ECG had been mixed up with other paperwork and it in fact showed a possible infection of the lining of the heart but that an appointment would be sent so he could be treated as an outpatient (no further explanation) His cannula was then taken out whilst sitting in the hub with other members of the public sat in close proximity and then it was thrown in the wrong bin (we know this as a nurse was asking who had put it there). He was then given his medication which he spotted was the wrong dosage (antibiotics dosage was doubled)
"Shocking errors?!"
