After an operation in November 2014 (from which I acquired a bacterial infection taking 30 days to fix) and a subsequent visit in December 2014 to meet the Consultant, my next promised visit in January did not happen. I chased West Suffolk Hospital staff on numerous occasions, but was fobbed off. My condition deteriorated and finally in May I discovered my consultant was no longer there. West Suffolk showed no interest and made no effort to contact me despite a director assuring the press that the consultant's patients were being fully supported. The issue is not the consultant's surgical competence but the consultant's and West Suffolk Hospital's joint inability to pick up the pieces after departure, from which I have suffered. I have initiated complaints with the hospital and contacted the newly elected Bury MP, Jo Churchill. In addition the GMC and CQC offer routes to raise the issue. But it does show fundamental failings in management control over unusual HR instances such as this. My surgery is showing problems and I am still waiting to hear from the hospital. Their last contact with me was 2 December 2014 that is apart from my many phone calls and their stonewalling.
