"maternity ward 4"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

My daughter is expecting twins and has TTTs, I am really surprised at the lack of knowledge, even general that the staff had or appeared to have. I wonder , what training do they receive? the room was adequate, however when in pain, exhausted and very stressed., you really need some rest. The blinds were missing, as apparently they are in most of the rooms. Why , no cameras to catch the people that take them? the beds were high tech but filthy in some of the metal fittings, filled with dust debris. The actual maternity staff that attended were lovely. But overall, the cleanliness was not up to scratch, couldn't wait to get out, not my experience at all when I had my 3 children, really deteriorated and I do worry about the care thats received, Leeds is much higher standards so far, which disappoints me greatly.

Hello, first of all I am sorry you did not get a response at the time, there has been a technical fault which means some posts were not feeding through to us. We are working with NHS Choices to put this right.

I am sorry too about the standard of cleanliness and maintenance your daughter experienced, and that this detracted from her experience with us. There has been work done to replace blinds and to improve cleanliness - our scores for this have improved on recent inspections.

I hope that is reassuring for you. I am pleased thought that your daughter found the midwifery staff caring, and hope she and the twins are doing well.
