"Cancelled operation"

About: Alexandra Hospital / Colorectal surgery Worcestershire Royal Hospital / Colorectal surgery

(as the patient),

After loosing my right to choose to have my operation at The Alexandra I was told all colorectal surgery had to be done at Worcester. , I was given a date only to have it cancelled the reason given was lack of equipment.

A few hours later I was told the operation was back on. I made arrangements for transport, after care etc got myself organised. Two days before admission I get a telephone call telling me my operation had to be cancelled, the reason given a male vascular patient had presented in outpatient who needed to be admitted. I cannot understand how a female surgical bed can be taken for a male vascular patient. I was asked whether I had any objection of going to the Alaxandra or Kidderminster. After checking with a Medical Secretary I was told my type of operation had to be done at Worcester. Why don't staff get their facts right before talking to the patient I am really upset and have lost faith in the system of patients waiting list, I have known since October 14 I need this operation.
