I had two hip replacements in the last 18 months with very good results. My surgeon was excellent throughout. When I had problems with pain after the second op, they diagnosed sacroiliac joint degeneration. They have given me cortisone injections in my joint which has now settled the symptoms. Staff in the hospital were very friendly, reassuring, attentive and professional. I only had one small problem when I was in the recovery ward after my second hip operation and needed the bed pan. I tried to press the call button but couldn't seem to operate it, probably because I was still drowsy. Eventually I attracted a nurse's attention but a little too late! She seemed irritated and kept asking me if it was normal for me to wet the bed! I explained I wasn't in a normal situation and had also been given two cups of tea which I drank very readily. Anyway it was dealt with neatly and quickly by the staff nurse and they apologised. I was just a little surprised a nurse would be impatient with such a small demeanour! I did find the call buttons a little tricky to use especially post operation when still feeling drowsy and a bit feeble! Has anyone else had the same problem with the call buttons?
"Relaxed and informed but I wet the bed!"
