"Glaucoma needing eye surgery"

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus)

I rushed to A&E at Moorfields on 2nd May 2015 when I noticed my vision getting cloudy and blurry in my left eye. I was diagnosed with Glaucoma in 2012 and had been managing the ocular pressure with eye drops and Diamox tablets. Over the course of 3 years my eyesight in my right eye deteriorated and now I can only see clearly out of my left eye. So when I noticed my left eye vision getting worse I knew I couldn't hang around. I was recommended to Moorfields by Watford Hospital as it was the Bank Holiday and Watford did not have any eye specialists. They advised me Moorfields had a 24 hour Accident and Emergency department so my husband drove me there immediately. After waiting for around 2 hours I was seen to and my eye pressure measured. As suspected, I was losing my vision in my remaining eye. The doctors and nurses helped monitor my pressure after giving me emergency eye drops and tablets throughout the day and asked me to come back next day to have my pressure checked again. Next day I came back and the doctor told me surgery was my only option to save my sight as the drops and tablets did little to help me overnight. A consultant came to see me after I waited 4 hours and everything explained to me. On 4th May Bank Holiday Monday I had my Trabeculectomy surgery in my left eye and Diode Laser surgery in my right eye under General Anaesthetic. I am now recovering at home after surgery and so glad I acted quick and went to Moorfields. They were professional and efficient, hygienic and caring. They did not waste time and acted in my best interests and gave me care of a level I cannot find anywhere else. Over the space of 3 years I've been passed from other hospitals where no one mentioned surgery or gave me any real help. Had I of known of Moorfields 3 years ago I might have been able to save my eyesight in my right eye. Thank you to everyone at Moorfields and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Thank you for this positive feedback. I will make sure it's passed on to the A&E and glaucoma teams.
