About: Southmead Hospital

Had pre op assessment. staff very helpful . All the talk about NHS during election must be talking about middle management because the staff were attentive and informative. However, one member of staff had been 'on' since 6-00 (I was there at 13-30) without a drink or break and was evidently tired, I looked at other staff members and they all seemed overstretched. Something needs to be done ? .

Dear Anonymous – thank you for taking the time and trouble to post the details of your experience at Southmead Hospital and for the positive feedback about the professionalism of the staff. Nurses working patterns have been revised in line with DoH guidance and 12 hour shifts are currently the norm. However; following this move a recent audit of nursing staff has been undertaken and in response to this many more nurses are being recruited to specific gates. I am pleased that you had a positive experience of the new hospital, your kind comments about the staff have been fed back to the wards. Kind regards - Steve Sykes Advice and Complaints Team
