I was diagnosed with a ruptured triple A in Swindon and was transferred under blue lights to CGH where the vascular team was waiting for me and I was swiftly prepped and into surgery. I was apparently very close to not surviving but happily for me after seven hours of surgery and two days in HDU the superb skill and care I received pulled me through. I didn't know much about it for obvious reasons but my wife commented on how well I was looked after and the constant monitoring by the nurses in the HDU. I cannot speak highly enough about the care I received. I then spent 5 days in Guiting ward and again the nursing staff were superb. I was given all the relevant information and medication I needed on discharge. My only criticism of my stay in CGH was the food. It was probably nutritious but for me it was not very palatable. This was a very minor consideration and did not detract from my admiration of the care I recieved.
