My husband was refered to UCLH in 2012 by our GP. We live in Derbyshire and unfortunatly the consultant at the time at our local hospital wouldn't attempt to do it.
The operation was very complicated but the UCLH consultant we saw said he would get a team together and do it. The operation although a success came across complications which after a few days resulted in a bowel resection. My husband spent two weeks in ICU and one on ward T9 South and the care from the consultants and nursing staff was second to none fantastic.
Last year my husband had another hernia which again would mean complicated surgery so his new consultant in Derby recommended he have it done at UCLH. He is now two weeks postop and looks a new man thanks to the professor and his team and all staff on Ward T9 South.
Bless you all.
