What I liked

I had my son at Frimley in April 2009. I had planned to be in and out of hospital as quickly as possible, yet due to needing an induction that failed, followed by c-section and concerns about my son, we ended up being in hospital for 10 days which had been my greatest dread. Fortunatley the experience, whilst stressful, was made much more bearable due to the care, support and respect shown to me by most staff at Frimley, from the housekeeping staff through to the maternity assistants, midwives and doctors. I was on the ante-natal ward for 4 days being induced,1 day in delivery and 5 days on the post-natal ward. The number of midwives who I had met on ante-natal/delivery who then came to say "hi" after my son had been born meant a lot in terms of being made to feel like an individual and like staff genuinely cared. The time and support I was offered in terms of trying to breast feed my son was particularly appreciated.

What could be improved

On the whole, there is little of significance that I would change-the vegetarian food choices for evening meals were limited and I did find the undertakings made by doctors in terms of timings frustrating as they would commit to doing something at a certain time and then get unavoidably delayed due to emergencies-if it had been made clearer that any timings they give could change if there were emergencies this would have made me feel less frustrated.
