"Ward 29"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I've been coming to LRI for many years for myself or with family. I have to say the NHS is going to the point where they don't know how to communicate with each other! The 'system' is broken and the patients are left without any information on their health or what's happening next! My sister has had a ultra scan on a Friday and it's now Wednesday and the results are still not in!' All the staff and doctors are at a loss and no one can give us a straight answer! Surely in this day and age scan results are pretty much instant ! it's about simple care and communication! The time spent in a hospital bed for results to come thru is surely a waste for us all..the resources are there but the management just don't know how to use it effectively. Finally id like to say there are many in the NHS that are passionate about care however when you keep experiencing these kinds of issues it brings the whole of the NHS into question. Proud user of a national heritage but disappointed with the service!

Dear reviewer, Unfortunately, this comment has only just been moderated to appear on the NHS Choices website so this is our first opportunity to reply. We are really sorry to hear about the frustrations you and your relative have faced whilst on our ward. We know the team will be disappointed to hear how processes and lack of communication has let down what is otherwise, very good care. We hope that by now, the issues you mention have been resolved directly with the ward staff, however if you would like to discuss in more detail, ward sister Sally is more than happy to run through things with you and update you on your relative’s situation. She can be contacted at sally.haddon@uhl-tr.nhs.uk or on 0116 258 6284. Best wishes Communications Team Leicester’s Hospitals
