"Four day stay at gynaecology after emergency..."

I was admitted to the gynaecology department after an ectopic pregnancy. My fallopian tube had erupted, I had lost 2 litres of blood and needed a blood transfusion. I ended up staying four days at the ward. I have to say that the staff at the gynaecology ward were brilliant. The Doctors listened and were very informative. The nurses were polite and very caring. The standard of care was excellent. I knew my health and care was in good hands. I was discharged for only for me to go back in. This time I was diagnosed with a DVT in my leg and a PE in my lung. I was told I would be moved to Glenfield hospital as they had a special unit dealing with blood clots. I'm so glad I didn't end up going as I wanted to stay at gynaecology as the ward looked after me really well last time. Once again the nurses were brilliant and the Doctors involved me about my care. The gynaecology ward did a fantastic job on both occasions as I've been told I was close to dying twice! The only draw back on both occasions has been the admittance from A and E to the ward. On the first occasion it took 5 hours and I was in excruciating pain with abdominal cramps and when I was seen for an ultra sound scan it just took 30 minutes to diagnose an ectopic pregnancy. On the second occasion I had severe chest pains and was having difficulty breathing I was in A and E for 7 hours until I was sent to gynaecology. I was started on injections on that night for blood clots. I am happy that the standard of care I received was excellent as I had been through a traumatic experience not once but twice and my body had to go through two physical traumas. Thank you to all the staff and doctors for their hard work. I am truly indebted to you all. I am slowly on the mend too.
