I am writing this as my disabled brother who also has mental health problems was admitted to a and e in the early hours of this morning. He is also deafened. The registrar who communicated with him took a considerable amount of time writing to him to allay his concerns and the nurse ( who usually works at Salford royal - maybe they were bank/ agency)was kind to both him and to my mum who was with him. This kindness time and consideration meant my brother who was incredibly anxious and very worried that he was very ill, feel at ease and happy to take advice and to go home. Their approach was exactly what was needed. It is refreshing to see such kindness and care and shows how taking a little time and showing compassion is often the most important thing medical and nursing staff can do. Sadly it often non existent. I want to say "thank you" to these members of staff and let them know that they really made a difference.
