"Rude telephone service"

About: University College Hospital

I had to call to try to make an appointment for a pre assessment. I was transferred from one person to another by very rude receptionists. They were curt and most unhelpful. I eventually gave up as no one would help me. I was regretting my choice of this hospital for surgery but fortunately I was able to speak to a very helpful secretary when I tried again a few days later. The receptionists are usually the first people patients deal with so they should be trained to be helpful and courteous. Attending hospital can be very scary for some of us and a friendly helpful receptionist can go a long way to making the experience bearable.

Thank you for taking the time to feed back to us. We are very sorry to hear about your recent experience of trying to contact the Bariatric Service at UCLH. We would be grateful if you could contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) via pals@uclh.nhs.uk or by calling 020 3447 3042 so that we can look into this.
