"cancelled appointment."

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

I was due to have an operation on 1\4\15. After organising my work colleague s to cover for me for a month. Organising my family etc. I was told the late afternoon the day before that the appointment was cancelled due to lack of beds. I was very upset and angry. It took a considerable amount of organising for me to be able to have my operation. Then two weeks later the hospital rang me with another date 29\4\15. I arrived at 11am. Waited for the doctors to arrived between 12.30 and 1.30. (Why do patients have to arrived 1 1/2 hours early?). Eventually was taken to the ward. Nurses asked a few question gave me a gown and the white stockings The registrar arrived asked more questions and I signed all the paperwork. Then the doctor arrived and discussed with me what I was about to undergo. Was told that my operation wold be at about 2.30pm. By 3.45pm the registrar pulled the curtains around the bed and told me that my operation was cancelled as the morning operations had run over. I asked if I could have my operation the next day but was told that they had scheduled operation for the next day . Now I would have to wait for another appointment. I was also told that the surgeon needed an special instrument to perform the op. What a joke. My husband who is a bricklayer said when I build a wall I have to order bricks and cement and take my level and trowel to do the job. Surely the surgeon should have had the tools to do the job. Also on the gynocolgy ward their were several empty beds. To sum up I have lost all confidence with the surgeon and the hospital. I am sure I am not the only patient to be treated like this. No wonder the National Health Service is in a financial mess. Such a waste of everyone's time Especially mine!
