"Paediatric A&E was dirty, ..."

About: St Peter's Hospital (Chertsey)

(as the patient),

What could be improved

Paediatric A&E was dirty, Doctor examined my Grandaughter with no gloves on and had to be prompted by nurse to clean hands. He was rude and un helpful and this was when it was quiet.

We are extremely sorry your experience in Paediatric A&E was not a good one. The Trust takes infection control issues very seriously and routinely check that good hygiene procedures are followed. In a recent audit by the Trust's infection control team Paediatric A&E scored 92% and the nursing and housekeeping staff do try to ensure the department is clean at all times.

If patients are unhappy with any aspect of their care we encourage them to speak to the member of staff in charge, so everything possible can be done to resolve the issue quickly. We always want to know if you feel someone has been rude or unhelpful towards you, as this is unacceptable and does not support our undertaking to offer good patient care at all times. We welcome feedback from patients and are open to any suggestions that may help improve the service we offer. If you would like to discuss your particular experience in more detail, please contact Charge Nurse Marcus Wootton on 01932 872000.
