"Mum suffers Dementia"

About: Basildon University Hospital

My mum was taken to A & E from her Care Home as the GP was concerned. Mum was seen by a lovely Doctor. They were kind, patient & understanding of mum's difficulty in making herself understood. Her Dementia is quite advanced. Mum was examined, assessed & discharged in approx. two & a half hours (which included blood tests) Well done.

We are very pleased that your Mum was treated int an understanding and efficient manner during her time int he emergency department. At Basildon & Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Trust we are making a lot of effort to ensure staff understand dementia and the difficulties it can cause for those living with it, it is good to hear that this is evident to our patients and their families. Thank you for your kind comments.
