"A large polyp in the right nasal cavity"

About: Victoria Infirmary / Ear, Nose & Throat

(as the patient),

I have had sinus and breathing difficulties for almost a year, nothing worked then I was sent to victoria infirmary to see consultant mr pramod sarode who has specialty in ear, nose & throat.

He told me I have a polyp in the right nasal cavity right away.

Weeks later went for CT scan, it was confirmed that it is a large polyp, then next month went for a MRI scan, again it was confirmed again I had a large polyp,

then I was told I need a surgery.

My surgery is in May 2015 at royal alexandra hospital in paisley. It has taken ages for my surgery, even 3 GP at the Govanhill health center agreed with me that it is taking too long!

I have been in pain and discomfort for months, had to take time of work and etc

this is no good at all. It is a simple operation and should have been done months ago. I have written about this to the waiting list co-ordinator as well.

That is no good at all and I am not happy about this.

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Dear nader,

I can appreciate the frustration you will be feeling while waiting for this operation, particularly given the discomfort that you are feeling. You have mentioned that you have been experiencing difficulties with your sinuses and breathing for almost a year before being referred to the Ear Nose and Throat Consultant and so I can see how this will feel like a long process for you.

You haven’t said in your posting when you had your first appointment with Mr Sarode, and so I’m unable to comment on whether this has been over the guaranteed referral to treatment time in place, however I also note that you have written separately to the waiting list co-ordinator, therefore I am sure that any issues in that regard will be picked up through that correspondence. I will also share your comments directly with the service. You have said that your operation is taking place this month, so I hope that this goes well and that you have a fast recovery period.

Best Wishes,

Susan McFadyen,

General Manager, Surgery & Anaesthetics
